MP Maryana Bezugla from Servant of the People said that Ukrainians abroad who do not update their data and do not return to Ukraine to register for military service must renounce Ukrainian citizenship.

The people’s deputy said this on the air of the “Obshchestvennoye” talk show.
MP Yulia Klimenko asked Bezugla if she was ready to lose 11 million people, to which she replied:
Are they ours? They will each make their own choice.
As for returning to Ukraine… Let’s be realistic: it is the will of every person, whether he will return to Ukraine, if he is liable for military service – to become a volunteer or just stay [на обліку]. No one will most likely drag him in and extradite him,” Bezuglaya said.
In response to the remark of Golos deputy Klimenko that if the data on a person liable for military service is not updated, a criminal case may be opened, Bezugla noted:
Okay, let him hand over his passport and take another one.
Klimenko asked her colleague if she was ready to lose 11 million people, to which Bezugla replied:
Are they ours? They will each make their own choice.
The head of the Ministry of Reintegration Irina Vereshchuk responded to this statement. She noted that many Ukrainians abroad, for various reasons, do not want or cannot return now.
Yes, among them there are many men who are afraid of mobilization. I won’t give recipes on what to do to get people to come back. But I can tell you what you definitely shouldn’t do now. This is me addressing my colleagues in government and other politicians. There is no need to talk to people as if they are traitors or criminals. There is no need to threaten people with various measures, especially around their documents,” Vereshchuk wrote in Telegram.
The minister added that such public statements or steps will not really bring any benefit.
No one will return because they were scared or because their conscience is stuck. But it is quite possible that each such public statement means a certain number of Ukrainians who will decide to build their future and their children’s future not in Ukraine. That is, all kinds of such intimidation do not improve mobilization, but worsen demography and the economy. So why do this? – wrote Vereshchuk.
