The young actress wrote a statement about changing her name to Shiloh Jolie on May 27, her eighteenth birthday, writes the BBC.
Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016, but the stars have still not reached a settlement agreement.
The couple is also currently involved in legal wrangling over Château Miraval, a French winery they jointly own.
Shiloh is the third oldest of the couple’s six children, including adopted ones, but not the first of them to try to ditch the Pitt surname.
Earlier this year, her 15-year-old sister Vivienne, also an aspiring actress, dropped her father’s surname from the theater poster for her production. Zachariah’s eldest daughter introduces herself at the university as Zachara Marley Jolie.
However, Shiloh became the first of the family to officially change their last name on their documents.
Jolie filed for divorce after an incident in 2016 in which she said Pitt grabbed her head and attacked her two children on a plane. She claims Pitt abused and doused the family with alcohol during a flight from Paris to Los Angeles. He denies these accusations.
By court order in 2021, Brad was granted joint custody of the children.
Regarding Château Miraval, the former couple filed counterclaims against each other related to the sale of Jolie’s part in the vineyard to a Russian oligarch.
These claims are still pending.
