The Trump campaign broke records for all major online Republican fundraisers, raising nearly $53 million in one day.
Potential US presidential candidate Donald Trump collected nearly $53 million in 24 hours after a jury found him guilty in a financial fraud case involving payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Trump’s election campaign announced this on Friday, May 31, The New York Times reports.
It was noted that the Trump campaign broke all previous Republican fundraising records on the Internet.
Before that, Trump said the campaign had raised nearly $35 million just hours after the verdict, and that nearly 30% of donors who donated online through the party’s WinRed platform were new to the campaign.
The exact amount of the fees will be known later – when the election committees, as well as WinRed, file their reports with the Federal Election Commission. This will happen in the coming months.
We remind you that the jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts. They are all linked to monthly payments to Michael Cohen – a Trump aide – who brokered a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Previously, the media reported that Trump spent about $5 million in courts in March.
