To fully meet the basic needs of the Ukrainian army, about 7-10 billion euros are needed every year.
The Czech government estimates the amount of funds needed to meet the basic needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for large-caliber shells at 7-10 billion euros per year. This was said by the special representative of the government of the Czech Republic for the reconstruction of Ukraine Tomas Kopechny, European Pravda reports.
According to him, Ukraine’s need for large caliber shells – and this is not only 120-155 mm, but also mortar caliber 81 mm – this year, next and in 2026 will reach about 200 thousand artillery shells per month.
The basic requirement means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can only maintain a balance;
“To fully meet the basic needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (that is, to supply 200 thousand shells per month – ed.), about 7-10 billion euros per year are needed,” said Kopechny.
According to him, the Czech initiative to buy ammunition outside the EU can provide for the purchase of both 1.5 million and 2 million shells. But now the Czech Republic has reliable financial obligations that allow to buy only 500 thousand large caliber ammunition.
Let’s recall that earlier the Czech government said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive from 50 to 100 thousand large caliber shells monthly. The first shells under the initiative will be delivered to Ukraine in June.
In April it was reported that the Czech Republic had discovered more than a million shells for Ukraine. We are mainly talking about 155 mm ammunition. At the beginning of May, the Czech Republic announced that they had raised money for 500 thousand shells for Ukraine.
Recently it became known that the Czech Republic collected more than 1.6 billion euros for the purchase of artillery shells for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
