Thus, the senators and congressmen wanted to show solidarity with Israel, even despite some differences between the countries in the perspective of the war in the Gaza Strip.

The United States Congress has formally invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. Reuters reported this on Friday, May 31.

It was noted that the letter to the politician was signed by all four party leaders in the same chamber: Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, Democratic leader in the House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican leader Senator Mitch McConnell.

The purpose of the invitation, according to Reuters, is to show solidarity with Israel, even despite some differences between the countries on the perspective of the war in the Gaza Strip and threats from the administration of President Joe Biden to reduce the flow of weapons to Israel due to incidents of attacks on civilians and volunteers.

Netanyahu will become the first foreign leader in history to address Congress four times. This would put him ahead of Sir Winston Churchill. His previous speech was in 2015.

The exact date of the speech of the Prime Minister of Israel to the American Parliament has not been made public.

Earlier, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan asked the Pre-Trial Chamber to issue arrest warrants for Israel’s Prime Minister and Defense Minister, as well as three Hamas leaders on charges of crimes against war

The United States criticized this decision and was outraged that the ISS chief prosecutor equated Israel with Hamas.
