Candidate for the position of ambassador Ernal Filo, during a hearing in parliament, recalled his country strong support for Kyiv.
The Albanian parliament held a hearing on the foreign policy commission, where Ernal Filo, a candidate for the post of ambassador to Ukraine, spoke. This was reported by the Albanian news agency ATA.
The candidate for the post of ambassador to Ukraine is represented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Artemis Malo. According to him, “a diplomatic mission was opened in Ukraine for the first time.”
The official added that the government’s decision to open a representative office in Kyiv for the first time “is clear evidence of the attention and support Albania is giving here.”
Philo himself recalled that diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Albania were established in 1993 and added that Albania, at the beginning of the Russian invasion, took a “clear and firm position in defense of territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.”
Albania supports Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s peace plan as the most realistic chance to end the war and achieve sustainable peace, Filo concluded.
As we have already written, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana. During the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
