Norway says allies should give Ukraine permission to invade Russian territory with Western weapons. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide said this on Thursday, May 30, NRK reports.
He emphasized that the West cannot force Ukraine to fight “with one hand behind its back.”
“It is necessary to hit Russian military targets related to the war against Ukraine And we believe that Ukraine has an absolutely clear right, in accordance with international law, to attack Russia on its territory as part of itself this defense,” said the leader. of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.
Eide stressed that Ukraine should fight the war “in the most effective way for it.”
“If Ukrainians are attacked by Russian troops who are inside Russia, because they have long-range weapons, then it is possible to attack them in response,” the minister said.
Let’s remember that thirteen states have officially authorized Ukraine to attack Western weapons on enemy territory. It was done by Finland, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Netherlands and Canada. On May 30, two more European countries joined the list – Denmark and Norway.
As reported, Canada has allowed Ukraine to invade Russian territory with weapons it supplies.
Sweden is also not opposed to Ukraine using its weapons to strike targets on Russian territory.
