Due to urgent needs, priority will be given to Kharkov, but support will also be available in other regions of Ukraine, in particular Odessa, Kyiv and Nikolaev.
The Swedish government has allocated 650 million Swedish kronor (more than 56 million euros) to help Ukraine’s energy system. This was reported by the press service of the Swedish government.
It was noted that the new support will help ensure Ukraine’s energy supply so that essential government services such as schools, hospitals, transport, water supply and businesses can continue to operate.
Swedish support for energy infrastructure is financed from the aid budget and managed by Sida on behalf of the government.
The new support consists of two parts: SEK 500 million through the Energy Community’s Ukraine Energy Support Fund, SEK 150 million through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
As stated by the Swedish government, support through UNDP will be used to finance the immediate construction of energy infrastructure in Ukraine. Due to urgent needs, priority will be given to Kharkov, but support will also be available in other regions of Ukraine, in particular Odessa, Kyiv and Nikolaev.
It was previously reported that Swedish authorities will provide long-term support to Ukraine through three years of military support in 2024-2026 totaling SEK 75 billion (EUR 6.5 billion).
We remind you that Sweden is not against the use of its weapons by Ukraine to strike targets on Russian territory.
