After counting votes at all polling stations, the incumbent president received 74.43% of the votes in the second round of elections.
His rival, Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte, received 24.06% of the vote.
Voter turnout was 49.61%, of which 38.58% voted at polling stations on Sunday, May 26, and 11.03% voted early.
During the first round of elections, a referendum was also held on the possibility of dual citizenship (currently it is not actually allowed in Lithuania), as a result of which the proposal to make corresponding changes to the constitution did not receive the required number of votes.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky expressed his congratulations to Nausedi.
Dear Gitanas Naused, congratulations on your re-election! You have always been with us during these difficult years. “I appreciate your sincere support for Ukraine and I am confident that by working together, we will ensure freedom, peace and security in Ukraine, the Baltic countries and our entire Europe,” he wrote on the social network X.
Nauseda himself also mentioned Ukraine in his victory speech.
This result is certainly recognition of five years of work, which was challenging and carried out in a changing context. It was marked by a pandemic, the challenge of illegal migration, presidential elections in Belarus and then a horrific war in Ukraine,” he said.
