The press service of the President of Ukraine published a video of an interview with Vladimir Zelensky to journalists from Central Asian media, in which he reproached the countries of this region for their reluctance to take part in the Peace Summit – a peace conference on Ukraine, which will be held in Switzerland in mid-June.
Calling the conference an important step towards peace (“They are, like a small child, unstable, but it is important that they are supported”), he again invited “all the leaders who had not previously sat at the same table” to come to the Ukrainian summit in Switzerland.
What’s scary about this? – Zelensky addressed reporters. “The only scary thing here is that there will be no Putin.” All.
Could Putin send tanks to one of the Central Asian countries because of this? – The Ukrainian president continued. – That’s why no, it can’t. Then what are those who do not join afraid? They are afraid of losing something, they are afraid of losing relations with today’s Kremlin.
In an evening address to Ukrainians on May 26, Zelensky recalled that more than eighty countries had confirmed their participation in the summit.
I appeal to the world leaders who are still on the sidelines of the global efforts to prepare for the Peace Summit. To President Biden, leader of the United States. To President Xi, the leader of China. We do not want the UN Charter to burn – to burn in the same way as these books (at the Kharkov printing house “Factor-Print” – “Rakurs”). And I hope you don’t either. Please show your leadership in bringing the world closer to true peace, not a pause between blows. The efforts of the world majority are the best guarantee of fulfillment of obligations. Please support the peace summit with your personal leadership and participation,” the president said.
