The Russians do not allow representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in places where prisoners are held in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories.
There are 403 Ukrainian women in captivity in Russia, many of them civilians. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War announced this on Friday, May 24.
It is reported that the Russian side is ignoring numerous appeals asking for the return of the women.
“The conditions of detention of Ukrainian women in captivity in Russia do not comply with the Third Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, among other things, speak of humiliating, inhuman conditions of detention, insufficient nutrition, inability to receive qualified medical care and contact their relatives,” it said in the message.
In addition, the Russians do not allow representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in places where prisoners are held in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories (more than 100 such places are known).
It has also been reported that there have been missing women whose fate is unknown since 2014.
Let’s remember that the Pope said he was ready to facilitate the exchange of prisoners.
