Polish officials have admitted that their country is now facing an “unprecedented level” of foreign interference.
Polish authorities are beefing up security around the main transit hub for foreign military aid to Ukraine, Rzeszow-Jasionka Airport, amid concerns about Russian-backed sabotage operations. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
“We are faced with a foreign state that is carrying out hostile and, in military terms, dynamic actions on Polish territory that have never happened before,” said Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak.
The official did not specify how security at the airport would be strengthened specifically, but stressed that Poland now faces an “unprecedented level” of foreign interference in the aftermath.
Earlier, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that 12 people had been detained as part of a crackdown on alleged sabotage directed from Russia. We are talking about arson, attempted arson, and physical assault.
This airport is located less than 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Up to 90% of Western cargo going to the front is processed there. The airport has become a major stopover point for foreign officials visiting Kyiv.
