The Khmelnitsky City District Court accepted petitions from prisoners who expressed a desire to perform military service under a contract.
In Ukraine, the courts began to make the first decisions on the mobilization of convicted citizens. In particular, the Khmelnitsky City District Court allowed two previously convicted men to sign a contract with the National Guard, the court’s press service reported.
It is reported that the Khmelnitsky City District Court has begun to consider the first petitions for the parole of those convicted from serving their sentences for military service and the establishment of administrative supervision over them.
On Tuesday, May 21, the court received two petitions from convicts who expressed a desire to perform military service under a contract. Both were authorized to serve in the National Guard.
The volunteers were men born in 2000 and 1981. Both were convicted of thefts in 2022.
It is noted that men are suitable for military service for health reasons, have passed the professional and psychological selection and have a sufficient level of physical fitness to fulfill their obligations.
However, the men will serve under administrative supervision, which will be exercised by the commanders of the military unit to which they will serve under contract.
“Among the restrictions is a ban on being outside the location of a military unit and traveling on personal business without the commander’s permission,” the court said in a statement.
The court reportedly received another 50 applications.
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice reported how many convicts applied to serve in the army.
