The specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office sent a case to court against a citizen’s representative accused of trying to bribe high-ranking officials in the field of reconstruction. This was reported by the SAPO press service on Wednesday, May 22.
It was established that the deputy, acting in collusion with the director of the joint-stock company, offered the top officials an undue benefit for the allocation of 1 billion hryvnias in additional funding for the work carried out by the company in under their control. The proposed bribe amount should be from 3% to 5% of the financing amount.
They later awarded a portion of the improper benefit in the amount of $150,000.
Defendants face five to ten years in prison with or without confiscation of property.
Let’s recall that in November 2023, on behalf of the head of SAPO, the prosecutor reported suspicion to MP Sergei Labazyuk, who was exposed for giving illegal benefits to the then Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Alexander Kubrakov and the head of the State Agency. for Reconstruction Mustafa Nayem.
NABU detectives also reported suspicion of the deputy’s accomplice, the head of the business entity.
The court chose a preventive measure for the deputy in the form of detention with the alternative of posting 40 million hryvnia bail and imposing procedural duties if it is posted.
