At night, hourly closing schedules will be in effect in all regions of Ukraine for industrial and household consumers from 20:00 to 24:00.
The Ukrenergo dispatch center lifted the restriction on electricity consumption in all areas from 07:00 to 20:00. The company announced this on Wednesday, May 22.
“Sunny weather contributes to the operation of industrial and rooftop solar power plants, and the deficit in the energy system is reduced,” the message said.
Energy workers are asking citizens, if possible, to reschedule the use of energy-intensive appliances that are scheduled for the evening or the night into the day. Due to the night, hourly closing schedules will be in effect in all regions of the country for industrial and household consumers from 20:00 to 24:00.
At the same time, Ukraine slightly reduced its electricity imports from Europe. Today it arrives during the day from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Moldova with a total volume of 15,861 MWh, with peak power in individual hours of up to 1,492 MW.
In the morning, 425 settlements in Ukraine were without electricity. Due to the fighting, there were new losses in Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkov and Kherson regions.
For technical reasons, there is a blackout in the Kyiv region.
Tonight, Russian UAVs attacked energy infrastructure facilities in northeastern Ukraine. Equipment is damaged. More than 518 thousand consumers in the Sumy region, as well as consumers in some areas of Kharkov and Chernihiv regions, were cut off. As of this morning, power supply has been restored to 95% of consumers in all three regions. Emergency restoration work continues.
We remind you that from March 22 to May 8, the Russians targeted all large thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine five times. Due to extensive damage, they were unable to produce as much electricity as before the attacks began. Initially, closing schedules were introduced for industry, and later for the population.
The day before, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal promised a “fair blackout” of electricity.
