The ambassador, previously summoned from Buenos Aires for consultations, will remain in Spain, the country’s government said.
Spain has finally recalled its ambassador from Argentina amid a diplomatic row between the countries.
This was announced by Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez on May 21, Bloomberg wrote.
“From now on, there will be no ambassador in Buenos Aires,” he said, noting that the ambassador previously summoned for consultations will remain in Spain.
Let’s remember that on the eve of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain sent back its ambassador to Buenos Aires for consultations after the statements of the President of Argentina, Javier Miley, addressed to the wife of the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
The conflict between the countries began in early May, when Spain’s transport minister said Miley was using drugs. The president of Argentina called Sanchez’s wife “corrupt”.
