Lasalya Street in Zaporozhye is divided into two parts – one is renamed Tigran Hovhannisyan Street, and the second is Nikita Khanganov Street.
In Zaporozhye, city council representatives on May 20 voted to rename one of the local streets in honor of two minor partisans, Tigran Hovhannisyan and Nikita Khanganov, who were killed by the Russians at the end of June 2023 in Berdyansk. Suspilne reported it.
In the city’s Zavodskoy district, Lassalle Street was renamed in honor of the teenagers killed by the Russians. It is divided into two parts – one is named Tigran Hovhannisyan Street, and the second – Nikita Khanganov Street.
In total, at the session of the City Council, representatives supported the decision to rename more than 100 streets in Zaporozhye.
We remind you that 16-year-old Tigran Hovhannisyan was abducted by the invaders in September 2022. He and another teenager, 16-year-old Nikita Khanganov, were accused of terrorism.
The men were accused of allegedly throwing a support on the railway track, which could block the railway connection to the city. For this, the men were threatened with a 20-year sentence.
On June 15, 2023, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for an end to the prosecution of Ukrainian teenagers Tigran Hovhannisyan and Nikita Khanganov from occupied Berdyansk and to allow them to travel to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
According to human rights activists, Tigran Hovhannisyan was brutally interrogated, beaten and tortured with electric shocks for 5 days. The teenager was asked to confess to preparing sabotage on the Melitopol railway. The men were eventually shot.
Law enforcement officials of Ukraine have opened criminal proceedings in the killing of children.
