The pre-trial investigation of Lviv businessman Igor Grinkevich, who offered $500,000 to the leadership of the State Bureau of Investigation for help in returning seized property, has ended. The SBI press service reported this on Monday, May 20.
It was reported that at the end of December 2023, the suspect tried to bribe the deputy head of the SBI department.
For 500 thousand US dollars, he asked for help in returning the seized property, which is located on the territory of Chaika customs post of Kyiv customs. Also, for these funds, the suspect requested not to carry out procedural actions and made a decision to close the criminal proceedings. Law enforcement officials detained a man during the transfer of 500 thousand US dollars and reported suspicion, the report said.
It was also known that the suspect’s property was taken.

Let’s recall that last year, at the end of December, the State Bureau of Investigation detained one of the largest suppliers of the Ministry of Defense – Lviv businessman Igor Grinkevich. He offered 500 thousand dollars to one of the heads of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation. For this, the businessman wants “assistance” in returning property seized from companies under his control during a criminal investigation.
The State Bureau of Investigation has opened several criminal proceedings regarding transactions involving the purchase of clothing and linen for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Business companies won 23 tenders to supply the Ministry of Defense with clothing worth 1.5 billion hryvnias.
The Ministry of Defense terminated the agreements concluded with Grinkevich. The family’s property and the businessman’s controlled companies were confiscated. Among the seized properties are 17 residential real estates, 7 non-residential real estates, 18 land plots, 9 premium cars, shares in the authorized capital amounting to UAH 14.73 million; 12 weapons; 3 items of intellectual property.
