The SBU detained a Russian informant who was preparing a “breakthrough” of the Russians in one of the hottest sectors of the front in the Donetsk region – the Pokrovsky direction. The traitor provided the occupiers with geolocations of artillery firing positions and fortified areas of the Ukrainian troops.

To find the locations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units, the suspect hitchhiked around front-line villages, where he secretly recorded the location of potential targets.
During reconnaissance forays, he “reported” to Russian intelligence about the discovered points of possible deployment of Ukrainian defenders.
Using the received coordinates, the Russians planned to carry out massive attacks using high-explosive bombs and rocket artillery. The security service thwarted these plans.
Its employees secured the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ bases and then detained the defendant in his own home. The informant’s mobile phone, from which he transmitted voice messages with intelligence data, was confiscated.
As the investigation established, the enemy henchman turned out to be a local resident, an ideological supporter of racism.
The attacker remotely maintained contact with two acquaintances – militants of the Russian occupation groups fighting on the eastern front. Through them, the information got to Russian military intelligence, which planned to use it to prepare military operations in the Donetsk region.
Based on the evidence received, Security Service investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons, weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
He is currently in custody. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison.
