These comments came after Vladimir Putin’s recent trip to China, where he and Chinese leader Xi Jinping pledged to strengthen cooperation.
British Defense Minister Grant Shapps said the growing alliance between Russia and China poses a threat to Western countries, and also called on European countries to increase military aid to Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
Discussing the growing global influence of the Russia-China alliance in an interview with Sky News on Sunday, Shapps said it was a “direct threat to our way of life”.
“If we value our freedom and value our democracy, we should worry that they are united,” he said.
The comments came after Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin’s recent trip to China, where he and Chinese leader Xi Jinping pledged to strengthen cooperation against US restraint in their countries and warned of rising tensions with nuclear in the West.
Discussing Russia’s war of occupation against Ukraine, the British Defense Secretary said that other European countries should provide more help.
“We are in an existential battle for how we rule the world order. We must survive this battle,” concluded Shapps.
Let’s remember that Vladimir Putin’s visit to China was presented by both countries as coordination of peace efforts, but in fact Beijing and Moscow are preparing to confront the West, says the British publication The Telegraph, analyzing first statements of Putin and Xi Jinping.
The US State Department has advised China to stop supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine if Beijing hopes to continue productive relations with Europe.
