A missile hits the ship and the ship starts a fire. But one of the tanker’s steering units remained functional.
A Panamanian-flagged tanker with a cargo of crude oil on board was hit by a missile attack off the coast of Yemen. Reuters reported this on Saturday, May 18, citing the British company Ambrey, which specializes in maritime security issues.
It is indicated that a missile hit the ship and a fire started on the ship. The tanker was assisted. One of its steering units remained operational. It is not indicated who helped the ship’s crew.
In turn, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Agency (UKMTO) reported that the ship “sustained minor damage” and that all crew members were safe. The incident occurred 76 nautical miles from the city of Hodeidah.
As you know, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have been attacking ships in the Red Sea for months. So, they are responding to Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip.
US and allied warships have shot down most of the Yemeni missiles and drones.
