It became known that on May 16, Russian troops shot at a car with residents of Volchansk in the Kharkov region when they wanted to evacuate: the 70-year-old driver of the car and the 83-year-old passenger died on the spot. The driver’s wife and passenger were injured, the Kharkov regional prosecutor’s office reported.
About 10 thousand people have already been evacuated from the Kharkov region border area. People are being evacuated from the settlements of the Volchansk community in the Kharkov region.
Employees of the State Emergency Service and the National Police, together with volunteers and representatives of local communities, continue to carry out evacuation measures, the State Emergency Service said in a statement.
The armed forces are trying to push the Russian army in the direction of Glubokoe, 40 km from Kharkov, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on May 18.
Russian forces, with the support of aviation, tried five times to break through the Ukrainian defense lines in the areas of Liptsev and Volchansk.
In most directions, the enemy continues active offensive operations, trying to break through the defenses of our troops. Since the beginning of the current day, 44 military clashes have already occurred, most of all in the Pokrovsky, Kramatorsk and Kurakhovsky directions.
