Western restrictions have affected Ukraine’s ability to strike military targets in Russia, analysts say.

The US ban on Western weapons targeting Russian territory has seriously weakened Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian offensive operations in the northern Kharkov region. This was stated by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Restrictions by the United States and other Western countries have affected Ukraine’s ability to strike Russian military targets and create a safe haven in Russian border regions from which aircraft can launch Russia is planning bombing and missile attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, experts say.

The ISW added that Russian forces and equipment could freely assemble before going into battle.

Analysts recalled: US representatives reaffirmed that the White House is against using the supplied weapons to strike military targets in Russia. In particular, US Defense Department spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said on May 16 that the Biden administration has not changed its position on the use of American weapons by Ukrainian forces to strike Russian targets. He added that the administration believes that these weapons “must be used to liberate the occupied territory of Ukraine.”

Earlier, the UK said that Kyiv has the right to use weapons provided by London to strike targets on Russian territory, as Moscow is attacking Ukrainian territory.

Let’s add that, according to media reports, a group of representatives of the Ukrainian people came to Washington to get permission from the US authorities to strike with American weapons on Russian territory.
