Scholz said that Moldova is suffering because of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its consequences, both economic and security, and promised to continue to give the country full support.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Berlin, in a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said that her country is preparing to become a hub for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, DW reports.
“Democratic and stable Moldova is a reliable neighbor of Ukraine, with which we have a common border of 1,200 kilometers,” the president recalled.
The president added that Moldova is preparing to play the role of a “strategic hub” for the restoration of Ukraine after the war and emphasized that Germany, while supporting Ukraine, also supports Moldova.
“My country would not be safe today if Ukraine had not given Russia such a refusal,” he explained.
Scholz said that Moldova is suffering because of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its consequences, both economic and security, and promised to continue to give the country full support.
“And we know about Russia’s attempts to destabilize the situation through pro-Russian figures,” added the chancellor.
Earlier it was reported that Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren and discussed with her the transfer of air defense to Ukraine. He called on the Netherlands to transfer more air defense systems to Ukraine.
