Israel’s military said dozens of enemy missiles were intercepted by its Iron Dome system.
Hezbollah militants fired about 75 rockets from Lebanon on Friday, May 17, at northern Israel. Dozens of missiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome. This was reported by the local edition of the Times of Israel with ties to the IDF.
The attack was one of the largest carried out by Hezbollah in northern Israel during the war, the military said.
As a result of the rocket attacks in the Upper Galilee, many people were injured, but their lives were not in danger, Israeli doctors said.
The IDF earlier said it struck a Hezbollah rocket site in the southern Lebanese city of Yarun that was being prepared to attack Israel.
The Israeli military confirmed it had hit targets in the southern Lebanese town of Najariyeh that it said had been used by Hezbollah’s air defense unit and posed a threat to Israeli aircraft. Hezbollah’s air defenses are located in “civilian environments, posing a danger to civilians in southern Lebanon.”
Hezbollah announced the death of one of its members in the strike, identified as Hussein Khader Mahdi.
Let’s remember that US President Joe Biden said that in the event of a full-scale IDF attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the United States will not provide the Israelis with weapons that can be used in such an operation.
