If negotiations begin, Russia will lose touch with world realities, the Russian leader warned.
The so-called “Istanbul agreements” can be the basis for negotiations to resolve the war in Ukraine. The head of the Kremlin regime, Vladimir Putin, said this in a conversation with journalists in China on Friday, May 17.
“We have a basis for the negotiation process – what we agreed on in Istanbul, and what the head of the Ukrainian delegation actually signed, under an excerpt from this huge document,” Putin insisted.
At the same time, he emphasized that if negotiations begin, Russia will be “out of touch with world realities.”
“Now some formulas based on what? On ‘wishes’ and not on the real situation? It’s impossible to discuss it,” Putin said.
He also added that “the Russian Federation is ready to participate in peace negotiations, but it is not invited to the conference in Switzerland.”
Earlier, Vladimir Putin came to a new problem on the issue of negotiations with Ukraine – the reliability of any guarantees.
In this regard, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that now is a “bad moment” for negotiations with Russia. The head of state is ready for a long war.
