The Russians captured up to 40 residents of Volchansk and were using them as human shields.
A Russian soldier killed an elderly resident of the city of Volchansk with a single bullet wound to the head as he tried to flee. The head of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of Police in the Kharkov region, Sergei Bolvinov, said this in a telethon.
“The Russians cynically shot an old man who was trying to escape, trying to enter Ukrainian-controlled territory… But the Russians cynically shot him in the head because he didn’t follow his orders,” he says.
He confirmed the information that the Russian military does not allow civilians to leave the temporarily occupied part of Volchansk. They are kept in the basement next to the command post of the Russian Armed Forces.
“The Russians captured these people, according to preliminary data, there are 35, maybe 40 people they are being held in one place and are actually being used as human shields, because they set up their headquarters in the area that this,” Bolvinov said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the Russians were taking prisoners of Volchansk residents. Information also appeared about the first executions of civilians by the Russian occupiers in the city.
It was also reported that the Russians continued to raze the Volchansk community to the ground: in just one day, the enemy fired more than 20 guided bombs on Volchansk and surrounding communities.
