The ICIP has issued decrees declaring monuments that are not subject to inclusion in the Register registered in the state in accordance with the law.
This year, 215 symbols of Russia’s totalitarian regime and imperial policies lost their status as monuments of cultural heritage. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
It was noted that the ICIP, by its order, at the submission of the regional military administrations, removed four monuments of cultural heritage in the regions of Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and Rivne from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
The ICIP also issued decrees recognizing monuments that are not subject to inclusion in the State-registered Register in accordance with the law in force before the Law “On the Protection of Cultural Heritage” came into force in the city of Kiev, Transcarpathian , Kyiv, Chernigov, Poltava, Cherkassy,Nikolaev , Zaporozhye, Volyn, Zhytomyr regions. In 2023, 55 monuments were removed from state registration.
According to the ministry, permission was given to move 31 local monuments to clean public space in 2023, and five in four months of 2024.
Together with the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, the MCIP continues to systematically work through the proposals received from the regional and Kyiv city military administrations to prepare the necessary draft acts.
