The system is capable of engaging aerial targets such as drones, helicopters and aircraft using laser-guided missiles during the day and night.

Australia will transfer a large batch of RBS 70 NG man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine as part of military aid. Defense Industry Europe reported this on Friday, May 10.

It is indicated that the air defense system is of Swedish manufacture. The complexes can destroy targets at a distance of up to 9 km and a height of up to 5 km.

The publication states that the supply of this type of weapons was announced during the visit of Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles to Lviv.

“The Minister of Defense did not disclose details about the number of RBS 70 NG launchers and ammunition to be supplied, as well as whether additional items, such as the Giraffe AMB air defense radar from the Swedish company Saab, will will be provided,” the statement said.

The RBS 70 NG system, developed by the Swedish company Saab in 2011, is a modernized version of the RBS 70 air defense system.
It is capable of targeting aerial targets such as drones, helicopters and aircraft using laser-guided missiles during the day and night.
The RBS 70 NG has a maximum range of 8,000 to 9,000 meters and can reach altitudes of up to 5,000 meters, with improvements such as an improved aiming system, thermal camera integration, automatic target tracking and simplified training in operator.

Marles also emphasized that Australia will provide Ukraine with a new defense aid package worth $100 million.

We remind you that Australia has contributed more than $32 million to the International Fund for Ukraine.

Previously, an Australian company produced and transferred to Ukraine the Slinger drone killer system.
