After receiving 78 signatures of representatives elected to the 11th Croatian parliament, Andrej Plenkovic received the order to form a government.
The current Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, will remain in office for a third term after the parliamentary elections. Reuters reported this on Friday, May 10.
“After receiving 78 signatures of representatives elected to the 11th Croatian parliament, I received an order to form a government,” Reuters quoted Plenkovic as saying.
Plenkovic is also reported to have given President Zoran Milanovic a list of lawmakers who will support the new coalition of his center-right HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) party, giving him a third term after the April elections.
It is assumed that the CDU has agreed to form a coalition with the far-right Fatherland Movement, as well as representatives of national minorities.
The new parliament plans to meet next Thursday to vote on the composition of the new government, where the Fatherland Movement is expected to receive three ministerial portfolios.
We remind you that on April 17, early parliamentary elections were held in Croatia. About 3.7 million voters chose between more than two thousand candidates.
It was previously reported that Croatia’s leading conservative party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), won a majority of seats in parliament in the elections, but not enough to form a government.
