The State Film Agency of Ukraine has appointed director and producer Andrey Donchik as general director of the National Film Studio of Feature Films named after Alexander Dovzhenko. This was reported by the press service of the agency.
The appointment decree was issued on May 8, and due to martial law, the new head of the film studio was appointed without competitive selection.
It is worth remembering that Andrey Vitalievich Donchik is a Ukrainian film and television director, producer, Honored Artist of Ukraine, winner of the film critics’ prize at the Venice Film Festival, member of the National Union of Cinematographers, Chairman of the Council for States. Cinematography Support from 2019 to 2021.
In 1999-2004, Donchik was the main director of the channel 1+1.
Since October 2014, he has been the Chairman of the Expert Council for the selection of film projects to provide state financial support for the production and distribution of national films under Goskino.
From 2016 to 2018, he was a member of the committee of the National Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine.
In 2018-2021, he headed the Council for State Support of Cinematography.
Since 2020, he has been the artistic director of the course, professor at the Department of Film and Television Directing at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.
Among the films he directed: Vladimir Sosyura, Death of the gods, Oxygen starvation, Stolen happiness, Banner of Hell, or Cossack Christmas And Cyborgs. Heroes never die.
