Alexander Stubb recalled that he spoke with Vladimir Zelensky, and also expressed hope for a peace summit.
Events on the battlefield today may lead to peace between Ukraine and Russia. This was said by the President of Finland Alexander Stubb in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
“You have to start somewhere on the path of peace After the negotiations with (Ukrainian President Vladimir) Zelensky, I got the feeling that there is a sincere desire for peace,” the Finnish leader said.
He recalled that the leader of Ukraine invited the leaders of various countries to the peace summit, which will be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland.
“I hope that more heads of state and government will participate and that there will be a meeting with Russia. It can also happen quietly,” Stubb said.
At the same time, in his opinion, now “the only path to peace is on the battlefield.”
He also commented on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO and noted that this process is “irreversible.”
Stubb has previously said that Finland sees no reason to send its troops to Ukraine, but continues to provide military support.
According to him, 23 military aid packages to Ukraine contain air defense equipment, as well as large caliber artillery ammunition.
