The Pentagon will spend more than $860 million building the new Himars

The US Department of Defense has not disclosed the number of MLRS it plans to build and put into service under the contract.

The Pentagon has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin for the production of Himars multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) for a total cost of $861.3 million, the Pentagon press service reported.

The order deadline is May 31, 2026.

The US Department of Defense has not disclosed the number of MLRS it plans to build and put into service under the contract.

Earlier it was reported that the United States planned to open in Australia the first foreign plant for the production of GMLRS guided long-range missiles for the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system sent to Ukraine.

We remind you that in the new aid package, the United States, in particular, will transfer ammunition for HIMARS to Ukraine.
