Germany is determined to defend “every square centimeter” of NATO territory in the event of a Russian attack on one of the Alliance countries.
Germany is ready to quickly deploy its forces to support the allies in the amount of 35 thousand trained military personnel. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced this on Monday, May 6, the press service of the German government reports.
“The security of our Baltic allies is our security. Germany is determined to defend every square centimeter of Alliance territory. An attack on you is also an attack on us. This is not allowed,” said Scholz at a press conference with Latvian Prime Minister Evika. Silina, Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas and Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte in Riga.
He noted that Germany has responded to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and that the Bundeswehr will focus on protecting northeastern and central Europe.
“Almost 35,000 German soldiers are ready to help our allies in emergency situations,” assured Olaf Scholz.
Germany, in particular, is responsible for protecting the airspace in Estonia and Latvia and will station an entire brigade in Lithuania.
We remind you that the head of the Czech General Staff, Karel Rzheka, believes that the war can continue for a long time. Moreover, Russia would continue to pose a threat to Europe after the war.
