The IDF is going to launch a military operation against Hamas even despite US reservations, the Times of Israel reported.
Palestinians are being asked to move to the Al-Mawasi and Khan Younis areas, where the expanded humanitarian zone is said to be located.
This expanded humanitarian zone includes field hospitals, tents and increased quantities of food, water, medicine and additional supplies, the Israeli military reported.
The report states that the IDF will continue to pursue Hamas terrorists throughout Gaza. It is stated that this will continue until all the hostages they have taken return home.
The Times of Israel suggests that the appeal to the residents of Rafah may be related to the preparation of an Israeli military offensive in the area.
The day before, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in a telephone conversation that there was no alternative to the operation in Rafah.
Hamas has already responded to the IDF’s statements and stated that it will suspend negotiations with Israel if it begins to evacuate from Rafah.
The administration of US President Joe Biden last week suspended the supply of US-made ammunition to Israel, two Israeli officials told Axios.
It is unclear from the publication whether this is a one-time delay or a temporary stop in supplies. The sources did not specify why supplies stopped.
According to them, the suspension of supplies, which occurred for the first time following the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, caused serious concern in the Israeli government, which began to investigate the reasons for the incident.
Axios notes that the delay in supplying the shells comes amid criticism within the United States that Biden is experiencing over the aid to Israel.
