Currently, approximately 20 countries of the European Union and NATO have joined the Czech projectile initiative.
Funds for almost 500 thousand artillery shells for Ukraine have already been collected within the framework of the Czech initiative. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky spoke about this in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine.
After the launch of global crowdfunding, about 20 countries of the European Union and NATO have already joined the Czech initiative. Ukraine’s partners have already provided or promised to provide funds for the purchase of shells.
“We have now gathered funds for about 500 thousand 155 mm shells with delivery this year, starting in June, and we will raise more to reach a total of 800 thousand shells,” said the Czech official.
According to him, the Czech Republic does not plan to limit its assistance to Ukraine in the aforementioned initiative. The government is already discussing options for 2025, including the Soviet-caliber shell used by Ukrainian artillery, Lipavsky added.
Earlier, the Czech Prime Minister said that the Czech Republic could buy 500 thousand shells as part of an initiative to provide ammunition to the Ukrainian army.
