Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived in France today, May 5, starting his first tour of European countries since the coronavirus epidemic.

He arrived in Paris at 15:40 local time and was met by French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
In a statement upon arrival, Xi Jinping noted that his visit was taking place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. He noted that he intends to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss bilateral relations between the two states, China’s relations with the European Union, as well as “major international and regional issues.”

According to France24, Xi is scheduled to hold a day of talks in Paris tomorrow, May 6. They will also be attended by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, followed by a state banquet organized by Macron.
The next day, Macron and Xi will travel to the Pyrenees mountains – an area he visited as a child – for less public conversations.
Xi Jinping plans to visit France, Serbia and Hungary from May 5 to 10.
