The defense deputy appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to transfer the petition for consideration to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, but the panel of judges of the Cassation Criminal Court refused to do so.
The Lychakovsky District Court of Lviv extended the arrest of Verkhovna Rada deputy Viktor Medvedchuk until August 9. This is stated in the court decision.
The decision was made on June 9th.
The judge granted the request of the prosecutor of the Prosecutor General’s Office and extended the period of detention without specifying the amount of bail for 60 days for the suspect Medvedchuk.
The deputy defense appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to transfer this petition for consideration to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, but the panel of judges of the Cassation Criminal Court refused to do so.
On June 17, the court also arrested the property of Viktor Medvedchuk. The Ukrainian News Agency informed about this to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Arrested: railway dining car with furniture and interior items, 279 paintings, four figurines, 10 o’clock, five cups, a glass, a tray, two vases, a decanter, two coasters, two silver coasters, a teapot and 31 box with furnished elements.
It will be recalled that in April, the SBU detained Viktor Medvedchuk after escaping from house arrest at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24. In 2021, the special service announced some suspicions against Medvedchuk. He is suspected of committing high treason, aiding the activities of a terrorist organization and attempting to plunder national resources in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. One of the cases involved the organization of illegal methods of supply of coal from temporarily occupied territories. The fuel was bought for cash, and in this way the pro-Russian terrorists supplied a total of more than 200 million hryvnias.
Another is the illegal seizure by Prykarpatzapadtrans LLC of a section of the state oil pipeline worth more than UAH 200 million. In February 2021, the National Security and Defense Council returned the pipeline to state ownership.
