The head of the American embassy noted that Washington has followed this position since the beginning of the war.
The US is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself from Russian aggression, but has disapproved of strikes against Russia using transferred weapons. This is what US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said in a round table with the Deputy Head of USAID, Isobel Coleman on Friday, May 3.
The head of the US diplomatic mission asked why his country does not allow the use of American weapons to strike Russia, despite the fact that Washington is committed to Ukraine’s victory in the war.
The ambassador said President Joe Biden’s goal is to help Ukraine defend itself and deter future aggression.
“However, the first part of helping Ukraine defend itself is providing us and our partners’ weapons systems to support your brave heroes on the front lines in the fight to regain your territory. Our position from the beginning is that we do not allow or facilitate the use of our weapons in Russia outside the territory of Ukraine,” explained Brink.
We remind you that the Pentagon said that the United States will provide Ukraine with as many ATACMS long-range missiles as they can.
