This was reported by the Georgian publication SOVA.
The incident occurred in the area of Queen Tamar Avenue, where yesterday, May 2, thousands of demonstrators gathered.
The victims were provided with medical assistance.
According to one of the protesters, the attackers moved in several cars and appeared suddenly.
We walked, sang songs, they stopped (the car – ed.), got out, attacked someone, and began beating people. I tried to help them, they threw me to the ground,” he said.
The attackers were probably wrestlers; it is reported that there were 10-15 of them.
As a result of the attack, several people were seriously injured, their teeth were knocked out and they were likely to suffer a concussion. Some were taken to hospital.
In Georgia, thousands of people have been protesting against the law on “foreign agents,” promoted by the country’s pro-Russian authorities, for more than two weeks. On May 1, the country’s parliament adopted this bill in the second reading.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the vote in the final third reading will take place “in two weeks.” Although the country’s president, Salome Zurabishvili, has assured that she will veto the law, the party in power has enough votes to override it.
