Scorched ground tactics, double attacks and fighting outside the city – everything is about the situation in Clock Yar.
The Kremlin ordered the Russian army command to “take” the city of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region on May 9, President Vladimir Zelensky reported. The head of state then admitted that the defense forces did not have enough equipment and artillery ammunition to repel the invaders’ attacks.
Today, May 2, the head of the military administration of Chasovoy Yar, Sergei Chaus, said that the Russians approached point-blank and the battle was already taking place outside the city. So whether the occupiers will be able to meet the deadline to get the settlement before May 9 is beyond the story.
Double Attack
Ukrainian political scientist Kirill Sazonov, who is now fighting in this direction of the front, wrote in the morning that now a part of the Russian army is attacking the city directly, losing casualties, but the other is going around on the edge of the populated area to put the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces under fire control. The roads, he said, were “passed in places.”
“They haven’t achieved critical results for us on the edges, but they are pressuring us little by little Because they have enough people to do ALL of this,” the military man wrote.
According to him, the Russians are preparing a stronger attack on Chasov Yar. To do this, they moved the assault troops into the city and distributed them to the “green” and other shelters. Therefore, according to him, the next two weeks for Hourly Yar will be “very difficult.”
“The boys are actually fighting in small groups, as if there were a lot of them. The command knows, Western shells and mines are in the way, so there is no reason for despair. So difficult? We know and especially now that a few weeks will be very difficult, everyone understands the situation, we are working,” added Sazonov.
The enemy is trying to cut off logistics
Information about the struggle for control of logistics routes was confirmed by Nazar Voloshin, a representative of the operational-strategic group of Khortitsa troops. The spokesman said that the battle around Chasovoy Yar was indeed taking place.
“The invaders, using a scorched earth method, are trying to destroy all our platoons and fortifications, and the city of Chasov Yar itself, so that our defenders have no place to defend themselves. The second line of defense has been strengthened and the forces are ready to fight the enemy,” said Voloshin.
Let’s remember that today the American agency Associated Press showed an “apocalyptic” picture from Chasovoy Yar from a drone. The destruction is reminiscent of Bakhmut and Avdeevka.
Not a single intact building remained in the city, houses and municipal offices were burned, and the city that was once home to 12,000 residents was now almost deserted.
As Nazar Voloshin added, the main goal of the invaders was to capture Chasov Yar and create conditions for further advancement in the Kramatorsk agglomeration, in particular, to reach the Seversky Donets – Donbass line.
“Don’t go overboard”
At the same time, Oleg Kalashnikov, press officer of the 26th artillery brigade named Roman Dashkevich, believes that the Russian army will still not capture Chasov Yar before May 9.
“The enemy cannot envelop Chasov Yar from the sides… They attack directly, like infantry, in separate groups, this is their tactic which is more ancient, and they try to attract both tanks and armored fighting vehicles. .. now they are still in the air with an advantage, and he always uses it,” said a representative of the brigade.
According to the military man, the invaders are trying to find weak points in the Ukrainian defense, but they cannot “jump over their heads.”
“They can’t do anything, they can’t do anything before the next sacred date, and they (Russians – ed.) have to make a new date again and postpone the deadlines. for their electorate to expect something,” the speaker said.
