London’s response, connected to sanctions against Moscow, the Russian side considered “appalling.”
Great Britain refused to issue visas for the Russian delegation to participate in the July session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. This was reported on June 22 by the Interfax agency referring to the first representative of the head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.
He recalled that all members of the permanent delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation were on the list of sanctions in the UK. In connection with this, a request was sent to the leadership of the assembly and the Russian Foreign Ministry in advance to resolve the problem of participation in the “most important inter-parliamentary event.”
Dzhabarov called London’s response “amazing.”
“The British government – literally – cannot issue visas to members of the Russian delegation to the OSCE PA for any purpose they visit the country,” said the deputy head of the Federation Council committee.
Recall, the 29th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will be held on July 2-6 in the UK in Birmingham.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba called for the removal of the Russian Federation of membership in the OSCE.
