The Ministry of Defense will cooperate with one of the largest satellite companies to limit filming on the territory of Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and one of the world’s largest companies in the field of satellite imaging discussed the mechanisms for limiting space filming of the territory of Ukraine under martial law. The press service of the department reported this on Wednesday, May 1.
It is the only satellite company in the world that provides daily photographs of the entire planet with a resolution of 3-5 meters. Its name has not been disclosed for security reasons.
“One of the objectives of the meeting is to discuss the mechanisms for limiting the images of the space of the territory of Ukraine under martial law. The Ministry of Defense also plans to extend the contract with the company to order the current image of the territory of Ukraine for defense and security purposes,” the Ministry of Defense said.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Ekaterina Chernogorenko, satellite companies are checking the territory of Ukraine every day. These images can be ordered by the enemy – through front companies.
“Therefore, we thank our partners for their willingness to sign a memorandum with us and jointly implement a mechanism for limiting the use of images of our territory, reducing the enemy’s dangers using images of Ukraine, ” she emphasized. .
The Ministry of Defense is already working on international regulatory mechanisms to counter the use of space reconnaissance in the war against Ukraine.
Let’s recall that the head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate at the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, admitted that Russia could buy satellite images of objects in Ukraine from American companies.
The Ministry of Defense has reported that it is preparing a mechanism to limit Russia’s space reconnaissance capabilities. It is planned to limit satellite imagery in Ukraine to counter Russian space reconnaissance.
