The Polish government believes that the issue of the return of men of military age to Ukraine should be resolved at the EU level.
The decision on residence permits for Ukrainian men aged 18-60 should be made at the European level. This was said by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrzej Schein, WNP reports.
Journalists asked him about a potential situation in which the Ukrainian government would ask Poland not to renew residence permits for men aged 18-60.
“We certainly don’t protect draft dodgers,” Shane replied.
He added that he will convince Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski not to renew these permits and stressed that there is no official position on this matter, as there is no communication between the Ukrainian government and the Polish government.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said that if Ukraine asks for support or assistance, “in this case, we will always provide support and assistance.”
He added that it is very important that this is a decision at the European level.
“Decisions at the European level will ensure the full effectiveness of this action, and we are interested in such decisions,” the Polish minister said.
We remind you that earlier the Minister of Defense of Poland said that his country will help Ukraine to return those responsible for military service. At the same time, the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs promised to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees without passports.
The Lithuanian government also allowed the possibility to help Ukraine in the matter of returning men of military age.
