The country has submitted an application to host American nuclear weapons, the Polish Ministry of Defense reported.
Poland has officially requested the deployment of American nuclear weapons by submitting an application to participate in the Nuclear sharing program. This was announced by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Defense Pavel Zalewski on Polish television on Tuesday, April 30.
“We are talking about a program called Nuclear sharing. It is a NATO program, but the decision and full control over the use of nuclear weapons, which, for example, are located in Poland, will be taken by the Americans, the This program operates in Europe. People are participating in it. Belgium, Italy, Germany and Poland have expressed their willingness to participate in this program,” he said.
Let’s remember that the previous President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, said that he was ready to deploy American nuclear weapons on the country’s territory. But Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the idea.
Last year, for the first time, people started talking about the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland. Then-Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland wanted to join a nuclear exchange program between NATO countries.
