The coordination of international military aid to Ukraine should be reconsidered, the Secretary General of the Alliance noted.
Delays in the provision of military assistance by NATO member countries have affected Ukraine’s trust in them. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this after a visit to Kyiv, Reuters reported on Tuesday, April 30.
In his opinion, the coordination of international military assistance to Ukraine should be reconsidered.
“We need a stronger institutional framework for our support that can provide predictability, greater accountability and ensure a clear distribution of responsibilities,” Stoltenberg said.
He recalled that in recent months Ukraine has not received weapons from the United States and this has affected the situation at the front.
“The fact that we have not fulfilled what we promised, of course, does not increase confidence,” admitted the NATO Secretary General.
Stoltenberg recalled his proposed idea to create a multi-year fund of $100 billion, where the contribution of each member of the Alliance to help Ukraine would be clearly described.
And addressing the concerns of some NATO members, he emphasized that the money would be “just a fraction” of what the United States and its allies have spent in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“There we are talking about trillions, and in Ukraine we are talking about billions, although in reality we are dealing with a real challenge to our security, which is Russia with aggression this,” he emphasized.
Let’s remember that the six-month delay in American aid led the Russians to improve their frontline positions. However, Europe and America are already sending new packages, and analysts are talking about a new offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Read about it in the material Correspondent.net.
