Taking control of the island of Nestriga made it possible to close the territory from Russian sabotage groups.
Russian troops unsuccessfully attacked the island of Nestryga, where Ukrainian defenders recently gained control, and also continue to attack the village of Krynki on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. The head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmitry Pletenchuk, announced this on Tuesday, April 30, during a telethon, writes Interfax-Ukraine.
“Today in the morning they made two attacks on Nestryga, and both times unsuccessfully they retreated without success, this is the last island from Veletensky in fact, the last island on the right bank of these islands in this place, – said the spokesman.
Pletenchuk noted that it was important to close this territory from possible saboteurs or possible enemy exits – and this was done by Ukrainian fighters who drove the enemy out of there.
In the area of the village of Krynki, the situation remains difficult, but, as the spokesman stressed, the enemy’s attacks there have not succeeded.
“The situation there remains difficult. First of all, because in fact the Marines are handling autonomously, because the Dnieper River is between us, and, of course, the logistics there are very complicated. Like rotation, evacuation , and other issues. However, they continue to hold their positions, despite the fact that the enemy’s forces are superior in numbers,” Pletenchuk added.
Let’s recall that on April 28, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported that in the direction of Kherson, Ukrainian units advanced in the area of Veletene and established control over the island of Nestryga.
