The Department of State emphasized that the negotiations must take place in accordance with the fundamental principles of the international community and the UN Charter: sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence.
The United States is ready to negotiate with Russia if the Kremlin shows a sincere desire. This is what US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, Radio Liberty reported on Monday, April 29.
“The end of the war depends more on Vladimir Putin and what he decides… I hope that Putin will understand the message and show willingness to negotiate sincerely in accordance with the basic principles that are the basis of the international community and of the UN Charter: sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence If these are properly confirmed, a resolution must be adopted,” he said in a conversation with World Economic Forum President Borge Brende in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the possible negotiations, Blinken mentioned that the United States will participate in them.
“When Russia shows that it sincerely wants to negotiate, we will definitely be there, and I believe the Ukrainians will be there,” he said.
Blinken also noted the unity of the Ukrainians and the weakness of Russia. In general, Russia is weaker economically and militarily, due to the destruction of so many of its forces, he said.
“At the same time, Ukrainians are united in a way they have never been before, in particular, united against Russia, which did not happen before 2014, when Russia carried out its first aggression against Ukraine. NATO is stronger and more big,” said the United States Secretary of State.
The head of the State Department also noted that Europe’s denial of Russian energy resources is a strategic failure for Russia.
“Europe removed its dependence on Russian energy resources in extraordinary ways in just two years, all this, I think, is a big strategic failure for Russia,” the head of the Department of State stressed, expressing hope that the Kremlin understands this.
Let’s recall that the Russian Federation recently announced that in the event of new negotiations with Ukraine, they will not make any ceasefires during the negotiation process.
