Officials discussed the initiative to create a special fund for financial support of Ukrainian defense in the amount of 100 billion euros for a period of five years.
Allies do have the ability to make such an initiative a reality. Details are very important to us. It is important that this is not at the expense of the bilateral volumes noted in our agreements on security guarantees,” Zelensky said.
Stoltenberg and Zelensky also talked about the situation at the front, the preparation and holding of the NATO summit in Washington, support for Ukrainian soldiers and the Russian counter-offensive.
I am working hard to ensure that Ukraine becomes a member of the Alliance, but we need consensus. “I don’t expect that we will achieve it before the summit in July,” said NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg.
Zelensky said that together with the NATO Secretary General they discussed the creation of a special fund for financial support of Ukrainian defense worth 100 billion euros for five years.
In addition, Zelensky expressed confidence that Ukraine will receive additional aid packages and Patriot missiles “without pause.”
At the same time, according to him, there are no “powerful specifics” from partners yet regarding the supply of additional Patriot systems, but there are “first steps” towards this.
