Unless absolutely necessary, Tajiks are advised not to travel to Russia by any form of transport.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan on Saturday, April 27, issued an urgent recommendation for its citizens, urging them not to visit Russia unless necessary. This is stated on the department’s website.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that citizens of the country temporarily avoid traveling through Russian territory in all vehicles unless absolutely necessary,” the message said.
The department did not provide details about this information. However, it became known that since April 22, about 180 cars with Tajik license plates were stuck at the Sargarchin checkpoint on the border of Kazakhstan and Russia’s Orenburg region. Subsequently, DW reported that on April 26, the Tajik Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Semyon Grigoriev and expressed concern to him about the widespread refusal of Tajik citizens to enter Russia.
Before this, the Asia-Plus agency reported that Russian law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation are using torture against four detained Tajiks suspected of committing a terrorist attack on March 22 in the Moscow region. According to the agency, this was said by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirodzhidin Mukhriddin, at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS in Minsk on April 12.
Earlier, nine people were jailed in Tajikistan in connection with an attack on a concert hall near Moscow on March 22.
